Nine Suspected Somali pirates were arrested in Seychelles.
MSC Melody a passenger ship with 1,500 people was on the way from S. Africa to Italy was attacked by pirates near Seychelles on Saturday 25th April 2009 to hijack it. But the cruise ship's security detail returned fire, and the pirates gave up their attempt and turned back and went away with their skiffs.
A Seychelles Coast guard aircraft went to the scene after hearing the distress signal photographed the skiff and gave the details to the nearest Spanish frigate and they traced the pirates and captured them and hand over them to the Seychelles authority. The suspected pirates are now in the hands of Seychelles Coast guard.
