Three Thai fishing vessels were attacked and were hijacked by Somali pirates. Now all the three vessels are heading towards the Somali cost with 77 Thailand crew members. the news was confirmed by the EUNAVFOR spokesman commander John Harbour said.
According to the officials the incident occurred on Sunday. There are many war ships patrolling the patrolling the Gulf of Aden and are ready to responds the emergency calls from the passing merchant vessels.
Mean while Philippines Government is trying for the release of 81 Filipino seafarers who are under the control of Somali pirates, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
Sewage discharge within three mile is not allowed - California.

Cruise ships and cargo ships must not dump sewage within three miles of California's coastline. Port of L.A. and the Port of Long Beach including Los Angeles and Long Beach are included. The rule is expected to come in to effect from next year.
The International laws already prohibits dumping of untreated sewage within three miles of the coastal line of any country, but the EPA is going to include chemically treated discharge jettisoned from ships weighing 300 tons or more from next year.
Cargo and cruise ships which are calling at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are already requested to follow the new federal regulations according to officials of both ports.

MV Syrian Star with sugar cargo was hijacked by Somali pirates and was left by them free. The 18,838 deadweight vessel had 22 Syrians and 2 Egyptians as crew members onboard. Two of the ship crew members were injured when the ship was hijacked by the Somali pirates. The Syrian Star which was hijacked on Thursday in the eastern part of Gulf of Aden. It was sailing west in the internationally recommended transit corridor with a cargo of sugar.

Timely action by the European Union Naval Force saves ship crew from the Somali pirates. Norwegian flagged chemical tanker MT Bow Saga was attacked by Somali pirates in the early morning of August 3rd. It was sailing westward in the International transit corridor in the Gulf of Aden when the attack occurred.
7 pirates attacked the tanker vessel from a skiff with firearms. The master of the vessel took preventive measures like evasive maneuvering and water deployment to prevent boarding. At the same time master of the vessel sent out distress call and it was picked and responded by the European Union Naval Force and they sent the Spanish frigate SPS Victoria which was near to the chemical Tanker. The helicopter from the frigate came in to action and stopped the firing from the skiff. And the skiff stated to fle from the scene and the frigate stopped and searched the skiff where they found weapons there.

Panama flagged cargo vessel M/V Suez was attacked and was hijacked by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden while it was carrying a cargo of cement. Onboard the cargo ship, there were 23 crew members consisting of Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India Nationalities.
It was still not known whether all the crew members and the officers are safe.
The incident took place when the cargo ship of 17, 300 tones was sailing through the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor. Once the ship sent out the SOS message a helicopter was directed to the ship but when the helicopter reached the ship it was already under control of the Somali pirates.
European Union Naval Force in Somalia sent out the information on this hijacking event.

Somali pirates with heavy weapons hijacked a Singapore flagged tanker ship named Golden Blessing. On board the tanker ship were 19 Chinese seamen who are safe under the custody of the Somali pirates. The hijacking took place in the Gulf of Aden when the tanker ship was travelling to India from Saudi Arabia. The Tanker ship is owned by a Singapore Company and was charted to a Chinese company.
Ship Owners Agree to Pay 1.3M For Pollution Case.

In New Orleans a merchant ship owned by Greek shipping company failed to control the oil leak from its stern tube and didn't inform it to the federal authorities. This caused them to get a heavy fine for violating federal pollution laws which came out with a total of US$ 1.3M and the company agreed to pay it. Mean while another report sais that the ship's oily water separator was also not functioning properly from December 2009 until May 2010.
10 Real Somali pirates released after 6 weeks of detention on board.
Those 10 Somali pirates who have hijacked the Indian cargo dhow Faize Osamani with 9 crew members and was captured by the U.S Navy destroyer were released after 6 weeks of detention onboard the destroyer.
The Indian cargo dhow Faize Osamani was used by the Somali pirates to attack the merchant vessel M/V Rising Sun with small arms and rocket propelled grenades to hijack it. The US Destroyer got the distress signal from the M/V Rising Sun and responded to it along with Omani warship Al Sharquiyah (B 11) and captured those 10 Somali pirates. Now they are released and can expect them to be in their job at sea again.

According to Singapore maritime officials a Malaysian tanker and one merchant ship were collided in the Singapore Strait.
In the accident one of the tanks in the Tanker got ruptured and started to spill about 18,000 barrels of oil in to the sea. There were no injuries for both ship's crew and officers.
The tanker and the merchant ship are anchored in safe place and there is no structural problem of sinking. The authorities have started to clean the oil spill and are preventing further spill. The shipping lanes in the strait between Singapore and Malaysia are not affected.

Greek bulk carrier Eleni P with the cargo of iron was hijacked by the Somali pirates while it was sailing from Black Sea to China. There were 23 people including officers and crew members onboard. 19 of them were Filipinos, while there were two Greeks, one Ukrainian and one Romanian when the ship was hijacked off the coast of Somalia.
Mean while Somali pirates released 11,000 tone refrigerated cargo vessel MV Talca with about 22 Sri Lankan crew members onboard after getting their ransom money. The money was dropped in to the ship before it was released by the Somali pirates.
Pirates from Somalia Has Hijacked a Panama flagged bulk Carrier.
Heavily armed Somalia pirates has hijacked a Panama flagged 47,000 DWT bulk carrier M/V VocDaisy on. The ship is manned by crew of 21 and they are coming from Philippines. The bulk carrier was heading from the U.A.E to the Suez Canal, when it was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden about 200 miles southeast of Oman on Wednesday.
Mean while on Sunday the Somali pirates has hijacked 3 Thai fishing vessels along with it's 77 crew members near to India.
Brave Dutch Navy rescued German ship from pirates.
German ship M/VTaipan with 15 crew members was hijacked by 10 Somali pirates off the cost of Somalia. On Monday 5th of April Brave Dutch Mariners landed on board the vessels deck through a rope from their attack helicopter, after attacking the ship's bridge where the pirates were holding and the 15 crew members locked themselves in side a safe place. With out any incident the mariners captured those 10 Somali pirates and rescued the 15 German crew members. Now the Somali pirates will be handover to the German authorities. In a rare piracy case German Government is going to prosecute those Somali pirates under the German law.
Those 10 Somali pirates facing trial in Germany has arrived in the Netherlands on a military transport plane on Wednesday 14th of April and are now in a prison pending their extradition to Germany.

Somali pirates are now looking for easy targets as the fishing vessels are with less crew and to make them as mother ship to attack bigger ships. In the recent weeks they tried to attack more and more fishing vessels. This means more and more groups are trying to engage in this bloody business. On March 28th Sunday Somali pirates claimed that they had captured a Spanish fishing vessel in the Indian Ocean, But the Spanish authorities denied the claim saying that any of their fishing vessels are not hijacked by them.
On March 27th the Somali Pirates left with out any ransom money from a vessel Arzoo, a Comoros-flagged vessel with 14 Indian crew members with out doing any harm to the vessel or its crew members after the vessel ran out of essential water, food and fuel. Somali pirates kept the ship in their custody for nearly one month.
Mean while Somali pirates who had captured a North Korea flagged Libyan owned cargo ship have demanded 3 million dollar as ransom and have threatened to kill its crew, according to available information. The 4,800-tonne vessel MV Rim with 10 Syrian crew members onboard was hijacked in February.
On Friday Somali pirates have attacked and have captured a Yemeni fishing vessel off the Gulf of Aden. At the time of the attack one Tanzanian fisherman aboard was killed. There were a total of 12 crew members including eight Yemenis, two Somalis and two Tanzanians.

Pirates release Thai ship after payment
Pirates released a Thai-flagged fishing vessel Sunday after a ransom was paid, a European Union anti-piracy force said. It did not say how much money was handed over.

Canadian Tall ship's first officer criticizes response from Brazil authority.
Canadian owned Tall ship Concordia which is registered as sail-training yacht . It used to train senior high-school and university students on board. The First officer said it took nearly 20 hours for the Brazilian Navy to respond to the distress signal and 24 hours to dispatch one Brazilian Air force search plane. The tall ship capsized and sunk on the afternoon of February 17 off the cost of Brazil last month. It took nearly 40 hours for the near by merchant ships to arrive at the scene and safely rescue the 48 students and 16 crew members stranded in lifeboats several hundred miles off the Brazilian coast.

Two passengers were killed when high waves hit passenger ship.
Two passengers were killed in the early afternoon of Wednesday 3rd March while on board the Maltese-registered passenger ship Louis Majesty, while at sea on passage from Barcelona to Genoa, after it was hit by abnormally-high waves which smashed a number of windows in the cafeteria located on deck 5. This Cypriot-owned cruise ship was carrying more than 2,000 passengers and crew on Wednesday.
