    Container Ships.

Container ships are now taking a big part in transporting goods in these days. There are many large ships with better speed enabling the cargo delivered very quick to the destination port. While there are small container ships which are called as satellite ships. They delivery and collect containers in costal run and store the empty containers in a major port enabling for the big ships to collect them. This will reduce the big ships time of going to small ports for delivery and collection. These ships run on programmed time and dates. Container ships are measured by its capacity to carry TEU's (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), some ships can carry nearly 14,000 and can travel at the speed of 25Knots. Most of these ships are fully automated with Unmanned machinery space, this allows the need for less crew to mange these ships. In many ports local dock workers do the loading and unloading of containers along with lashing and unlashing operations under the supervision of the ship officers. All the officers and crew must have the required licenses and training certificates as per the IMO regulations. The crew members have limited access to shore leave as the ship's schedule in port calling is limited.
